‘Synaptic and Circuit Mechanisms for Computation of Location’
Neurons in the entorhinal cortex generate grid like representations of location. These spatial representations co-exist with theta and gamma frequency network oscillations. The synaptic and circuit mechanisms for computing location and for simultaneous generation of network oscillations are unclear. I will talk about experimental and modelling work that in addressing this issue provides evidence that spatial representations and network oscillations originate from shared cellular mechanisms.
