Julien Messéant (CNPP) has been awarded the AFM-Telethon prize of the best oral presentation for his PhD supervised by C. Legay and L. Strochlic. In their article published in the Journal of Neuroscience in June 2015 the three authors demonstrated that the Frizzled-like domain of the receptor protein MuSK is essential not only for the formation but also for the maintenance of the neuromuscular junction in adulthood. They also reported for the first time the beneficial effect of lithium chloride, which therefore constitutes a novel therapeutic reagent to restore the motor deficit caused by the congenital myasthenia. These results are protected by a patent filed by Inserm Transfert.
