Hans Scherberger, Göttingen University and German Primate Center : « Representation of Hand Grasping Movements in Macaque Parietal, Premotor, and Motor Cortex ».

Specialized brain areas in the primate parietal (AIP), premotor (area F5), and motor cortex (hand area of M1) form a functional network that integrates sensory and cognitive signals for generating hand actions. I will highlight recent experimental results on how AIP, F5, and M1 generate grasping movements and how this activity can be used for decoding. Such characterizations could be useful to evaluate the suitability of these motor-planning areas for the development of neural interfaces in paralyzed patients.
