The Institute for Neurosciences and Cognition;
a unique multidisciplinary approach to research
The Institute for Neurosciences and Cognition (INC) was established in 2010 with a vision of bringing together researchers from all domains of neuro and cognitive sciences - including physiologists, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicists, mathematicians and computer scientists - in a common desire to understand brain function and to optimally train the future generations of scientists.
The INC, with over 100 full time researchers, is actively seeking answers to all kinds of questions, whether they pertain to movement, speech, perception, mental health, or psychology. The Institute is also pursuing research on related pathologies such as Parkinson's, epilepsy, schizophrenia, sensory deficits (such as deafness) and vascular trauma. Indeed, studying the brain function from every angle is at the heart of our mission.
Using a variety of complementary approaches - genetics, molecular biology, electrophysiology, behavioral studies and computational approaches - members conduct research on both animal models and humans, and also using neural modeling and numerical simulations. For the more clinical aspects of their research, members of the INC collaborate with the clinical services at the Parisian hospitals Lariboisière, Raymond Poincaré and Sainte-Anne.
The institute has also developed key partnerships internationally with other interdisciplinary institutes in Israel (Jerusalem) and Canada (Ottawa).
At the INC, we believe that by uncovering the mysteries of brain function, we may contribute to the global advancement of science and medicine.
